Being on the Brookwood VEX Robotics Team has been one of the greatest joys of my life. I first started robotics when I was an out-of-state transfer student in the middle of the school year, and literally, on my first day of school, the robotics team took me in, and we’ve been a fantastic cohesive group ever since. There’s no denying that robotics takes a lot of work; most team members dedicate at least 10 hours a week to work on our competition robot, but it’s an incredibly delightful environment and we’re laughing and cracking jokes almost the whole time. The success of Brookwood Robotics depends on this inclusive environment where all of our teams help each other with brainstorming and analyzing new designs. By doing this, we were able to make it to the VEX Robotics Competition World Championships last year, and we also qualified for the CREATE US Open National Championships in my team’s 9th-grade season. A brand new Engineering Club at BHS has also been born out of my robotics friend group, and we have won 4th place nationally in 2 consecutive years of the TI CODES Contest. We have also won 1st place in the 10th Grade Large Group category of the international NSS Space Settlement Competition. We are proud of what we have accomplished as a robotics club, and we are looking forward to another spectacular season!
