We are the Starr Family! We are grateful to be a part of the Brookwood community! Meet our herd: John, Jess, Jude (7), Owen (5), Finn (4) and Ellie (1). When we’re not eating or serving chicken, you can find us outside playing baseball, soccer, kickball, swimming, riding bikes, or walking our neighborhood. Here’s a little about us.

John grew up in Jonesboro, GA with his seven siblings and wonderful parents. His parents are now the grandparents of 18 grandkids, all under nine years old! John started working for Chick-fil-A when he was 14 years old.  After working for Chick-fil-A for a few years, he knew he wanted to be an Operator one day. The next step was pursuing and receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Clayton State University. John was selected to become the Operator at Chick-fil-A Snellville in 2017. John’s upbringing has always helped him stay humble and grateful for all he’s been given and entrusted with. He is grateful for the opportunity he has been given to help his Team Members and others in the community in a similar way that others did for him and his family.

Jess grew up in Stockbridge, GA in a close-knit family. Her grandparents, sister and parents spent their time traveling, when they weren’t at a softball or basketball game. Jess received a BBA in Marketing from Kennesaw State University and worked for Carter’s in Human Resources until baby Jude was born. She and John then decided the commute and corporate hours didn’t align with her desire to stay at home raising Jude. Now, Jess’ commute is Brookwood Elementary School, Mt. Zion Preschool, church, sporting events and of course, Chick-fil-A.

John and Jess met in their early 20s through mutual friends. Within the first month, we would both admit we knew we were the one for each other. A little over a year later, in April 2010, we got married. We spent the first few years of marriage traveling, playing co-ed softball, tennis, working and planning our future. In 2017, with three boys under three, we moved from Fayette County to Gwinnett County. We fell in love with Grace Snellville church (the people and the passion they have for the next generation) and felt at home. We knew the Brookwood cluster was where we wanted our children to attend school and found the home perfect for our growing family. Little did we know the bedroom painted all pink when we bought our home, would become our baby girl’s nursery shortly after.

We love our Snellville community and love seeing familiar faces at our Chick-fil-A on Highway 78 in Snellville. We have a passion for people and work hard to see them become successful in all areas of their lives. Now that you know our story, come see us at our brand new, state of the art store, and tell us yours!
